This Lewis & Clark Festival Park provides an important urban connection between the downtown business district of The Dalles, Oregon, and the Columbia River to the north.
The pavilion serves a multitude of uses: a band shell, public restrooms, a picnic shelter and space for concessions. As the entry portal for the park, the design incorporated the building needs into one structure so that more green space would be left available for open space and park activities. The structure’s unique design directs the ever-present Columbia Gorge wind up and over the building for visitors’ comfort.
